Although I’ve been occasionally posting on my latest development updates on my Twitter (@gyubok) account, it’s been a while since I wrote a blog post. A lot of things happened in the last 3 years since my last blog post and I want to summarize what’s been going on.
To put it briefly, I stopped freelancing and started a bit more professional life.
I worked at a startup in Oakville called Arroware Industries for a short time as a BlackBerry 10 developer on their peer-to-peer social networking platform until the company went out of business. It was a short but incredible experience for me as I met amazing like-minded people with passion to make an impact on the world. The idea of peer-to-peer networking was solid but in the end, the company failed to find a market fit for their product.
Shortly after Arroware Industries, I joined another startup in Toronto called GreenOwl Mobile which specializes in white labeled traffic mitigation mobile applications as a BlackBerry 10 developer. While working at GreenOwl Mobile, I’ve transitioned to iOS development and since then, I’ve been working as a Product Manager on their new construction analytics platform, indus.ai.
With limited amount of time each day after work, I usually hit up Starbucks near work to work on my own stuff. Though a slow process, I was able to develop two mobile applications for iOS — Corky Notes for iOS and Little Windows, an Unsplash client. These were primarily developed to explore and learn new technology (CocoaPods and bunch of latest libraries in Corky Notes, Swift and even more latest libraries in Little Windows).
In the last several months, I’ve been working on a gaming platform project during my after work hours in Starbucks. I am hoping it to be completed and released by this summer, I’ll be providing more details here and on my Twitter account as I continue the development.
As for my thoughts on current state of BlackBerry 10 mobile application development and BlackBerry the company will need to be in another post..
