You are being controlled.

We are all oblivious to one thing that has been controlling our lives. And it is not what you think. (Or at least what I think you think).

For a long time, I have always believed that humans are supreme.

(Asides God).

But even God gave us control of everything on earth. And over some spiritual aspects.

According to Christianity,

After he created us, he told us to have dominion over the earth and subdue it.

And we have been dominant.

We have taken over almost every land and are even overpopulating the earth.

We control almost all resources in and on the earth.

We have even started controlling some outlandish things like climate and giving birth.

But despite all of the control we have there is one thing we cannot control.

There has been a lot of Hollywood movies expressing the desire to be in control of this concept.

Time.

We have never been able to control time.

In my opinion,

Time is that which we have but has total control over us.

Quite a mouthful. I know.

But think about it.

Everything is subject to time.

Even most of the things we control are subject to time.

Birth giving has a duration of 9 months. Subject to time.

Climate change has periods. Subject to time.

We as humans are subject to time.

There is always a time to sleep and a time to wake. (Though it’s more like a range of time).

A time to eat, a time to go work, a time to go to school, a time to get married,

our whole existence is timed.

Moreover, we cannot reverse time.

Once a time has passed it has truly passed. We cannot slow it down. We cannot stop it.

It is an unmovable, immovable, unstoppable, uncontrollable force.

It controls the movement of planets. Dictates the seasons. Controls aging and life cycles.

Even God, the creator of all things (if you believe in God that is), works with time.

He created everything within a week.

He is a timely God. And he works based on time.

He only does things when the time is right.

It’s a big attribute of his. Sticking to time.

If a being like God works with time how on earth can we be in control of it.

We can’t.

The only thing we can do is use time.

And you might say that using something is a form of controlling it, but I say contrary.

Rather than use time, we make use of time.

They may sound the same, but they are not.

Both “use” and “make use of” are verbs that mean to employ or utilize something. However, there is a subtle difference between the two. “Use” is a more general term that simply means to put something into action or service. On the other hand, “make use of” implies that the object in question is not being used, being underused, or would henceforth not be used and that one is taking advantage of an opportunity.

For instance, “I used the eggs” is pretty straightforward, whereas “I made use of the eggs” implies that they would have gone bad had I not used them or that no use had been thought of previously.

We can only take advantage of the opportunity that is time, not control it.

So, it’s left to us to make the most use of time as time waits for no man.

It pulls the strings underneath.

Work with it.

Be patient and not try to move ahead of your time.

It’s unpredictable at times, but control what you can.

Which is how you make use of it.

If you like my perspective on this,

clap for me and follow for more.

I just want to iterate that I am not a guru or anything like that.

I just like thinking on things like this. And coming up with different perspectives on common subjects or telling you what I learnt from another source.

Till next post.
