Who is Ray Kurzweil?

Ray Kurzweil is a man that people would describe as the “restless genius”. He is one of the well known futuristic writers. He is widely regarded as one of the leading inventors of our time. His recent work is entitled The Singularity is Near, When Humans Transcend Biology. Singularity is a hypothetical moment in time when technology’s intelligence will be beyond the human’s intelligence, causing a change in civilization. Kurzweil predicts that the singularity will occur around 2045. In the article, 2045: The Year Man Becomes Immortal by Lev Grossman, it explains Kurzweil’s theory of why computers and other technology will become much smarter than man by 2045. Just like Kurzweil, another futurist writer name Vinge predicts that singularity is near. Vinge disagrees with Kurzweil on the year that singularity will become. Vinge writes an article called The Coming Technological Singularity: How to Survive in the Post-Human Era. Kurzweil explains that singularity will allow us to transcend limitations of our biological bodies and brains. Kurzweil believes there will be no distinction between human and machine.
