Quasar November Update
Greetings, people of Cosmos and beyond!
We’re continuing to gather speed, with new developments arriving and on the horizon. Questnet is evolving, our new website is launching, the team is growing, and the tech is moving forward.
Questnet v3 is LIVE
Questnet v3, the third version of our testnet, is online! In this round, we’re including about 20 top Cosmos validators. Questnet is being used for a range of tests — assessing liveliness, implementing upgrades, evaluating IBC functions, and trialing our smart contract vaults. Questnet access has thus far remained private, but perhaps not for long! Find out more and check out the validators involved here.
Technology
We’ve finished a proof of concept for automated integration tests using an IBC test framework built by Strangelove. After making sure that our individual IBC components worked as expected, we ran automated tests to assess how these IBC components function in unison. These tests are a major step toward simulating the Quasar environment, involving a Quasar chain and counterparty chains where strategies are carried out.
With these tests, we’re ensuring that our code is functioning correctly given basic use cases. We’ll continue to include novel and future use cases in testing. Having an automated testing pipeline is key to ensure things are airtight before deployment on questnet or mainnet.
We’re also investigating how to best use our Vault libraries with IBC-enabled chains. We’re actively implementing the CosmWasm smart contract library to test wasm module use cases with different IBC sub-protocols such as interchain queries (ICQ), interchain accounts (ICA), and fungible token transfer.
We’ve nearly concluded the development of a manual and local testing environment aimed at providing an awesome experience for Cosmos developers. This will be akin to a CLI that allows devs to easily develop, test, and deploy CosmWasm smart contracts in a more visual way, without writing too many terminal commands.
Lastly, we’re developing analytics and a proper execution plan for our tokenomics and mapping it with the Cosmos SDK.
Community
The community has spoken, and we’ve decided on our identity emoji: 🛰
We had 🛸 as a close second, and 🦅 came dead last. The satellite definitely aligns with what we’re building — a way to connect investors and strategists from all corners of Cosmos, to each other and to the multi-chain Cosmos ecosystem.
We’re continuing our weekly AMAs on our Discord server every Thursday at 9:00 am EST / 3:00 pm CET. Here you’ll find the whole team online to answer the community’s questions. Check out some notes from recent sessions on November 17 and November 24.
Catch us in a Twitter Spaces conversation with Babylonchain and EclipsePad next Tuesday, December 13, at 9:30 am EST / 3:30 pm CET. We’re also changing up how we do our Community Calls, and we’ll be hosting more Twitter Spaces in the future to address specific topics.
We opened our public Telegram group! Join here: https://t.me/quasarfi
The Interchain Communications Council (ICC) announced its launch, aiming to align and amplify information-sharing efforts within and around the Cosmos ecosystem. Councilmembers include individuals from Osmosis, Polymer, Strangelove, Secret, and others. We’re participating in conversations as part of the Interchain Communications Group (ICG).
The Team
Quasar is always on the lookout for top-notch talent. We’re in the process of hiring a Senior Golang & Cosmos SDK Developer, with candidates at the final stage of interviewing.
Meanwhile, this month we welcomed a new team member!
Mauricio
Content & Technical Writer
Mauricio has worked as a communicator in many different contexts, with experience ranging from environmental communication for a government agency, sales at a solar energy company, real-time notifications for a crime tracking app, content management at a nascent tech startup, and now, crypto. Underneath all of this is a drive to share knowledge and information that could nudge the world in a better direction. He is a student of psychology, tennis, and philosophy.
What is he most excited about?
“I’m excited to help make the crypto space more accessible to non-technical users. Quasar is paving the way for this by creating opportunities for non-technical and non-DeFi-native users to activate powerful financial tools. The Cosmos vision and philosophy, which includes furthering accessibility and sovereignty, genuinely resonates with me. The Quasar team is a group of incredibly thoughtful people that aligns with these principles and is dedicated to building a product of substantial value.”
New Website Launch & Other Updates
Our new website is nearly ready to be published — launching next week!
Valentin, our CEO, was interviewed on an episode of Fast & Crypto by Imperator.co. It’s a great snapshot of what Quasar is all about, delivered in just over a minute.
Check out our recent article on ICQ, the second installment in a series covering cutting-edge IBC technology and its implementation.
It’s been a hectic month for crypto, but the Cosmos universe keeps expanding in truly promising directions. We’re flying forward at full speed! There’s much more to come as we approach mainnet launch — follow us on Twitter to stay up to date.
See you next time!
