I think you have to think on these thinks before you ask “Why?”:

Do you know answer? If yes, don’t waste your and others time

Do they know answer? If not, don’t ask them. If you know the answer just tell them. But again think about time, some people don’t listen and they waste your time which you can spend better. I read nice article about this and author use nice quote: “We should be careful not to exhaust our available time on things that are merely good and leave little time for that which is better or best.” — Dallin Oaks

Can answer help you or help other persons? If not, don’t waste time again, you can ask better questions. You can ask about their day, work, whatever what you really want to know about them.

But at the end do what you want to do, don’t care about others first, first has to be you.
