Bombay Velvet
“Bombay Velvet” was always going to rate high on the “coming soon, can’t wait” scale. The trailer is out, which you can see here:
It helps that the music+lyrics is by the Amits (this half of the year also sees Rahman-Ratnam and only a few months ago we had Vishal-Gulzar with an album, so it couldn’t get better for me). Trailers always flatter to deceive, but as trailers go, this is A, not A+.
Interesting, yes. Such as:
- Thelma Schoonmaker on the credits. Whoa — how did that happen? Turns out she is editing the international (read: smaller) cut. That is pretty neat — Martin Scorsese’s long time editing partner. Anurag K certainly finds a way to work with some of the best. Of course, Vishal B has worked with some famous Hollywood names before
- Let’s leave the much talked about Karan Johar part. Let’s see how it turns out. I have a feeling this will underwhelm, but people will go ga ga anyway. Thresholds of expectation may be low
- There’s Siddhartha Basu in there — in fact, it was his tweet that alerted me to the trailer. He’s been acting quite a bit of late.
- Nice background music — 60s & 70s style. Looking forward to this especially.
