How changes in technology impact on the way humans communicate, and the ethical issues surround these changes?

Hello again and welcome to today’s episode which is on the effect of technology on the way humans communicate and some of the ethical issues surround these changes. In fact, we live in 20th century which is the century of innovated, developed technologies. We live in the era of most of the work is doing on the laptops, tablets, phones, computers based on the Internet. In general, we need to somehow expect that the new technologies have many effects on our lives for example in our ways of communicate. Some of the way which technology has effected on our daily life includes:

· Via Website: the web is one of ways which people connect when they are going to online nowadays. By a click, the whole world will appear in front of you with unlimited data. It prevents people from going out and make friend with people face-to-face. However, because of technology development, all the information that we need is easier to be access rather than sitting for days waiting on the publishing of newspapers.

· Via Phones: it is easier to chat with people on phone rather than seeing them and talking with each other therefore the phone is another way which stop people communicate with each other. The phone enables us in interacting and speech to communicate with hundred or even thousand people. On the other hand, one of the advantage of using mobile phone is it help to find and connect with people quicker and it saves a lot of time.

· Social networking: another way which take people away from communicate is social networking. As such, everyone, aged above 18 have at least 1 social account whereas it could be Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Snapchat. Back in the 1990s where most of the news was coming from newspaper, magazines, and radio but now, by a tap, we could get every single information from the Internet. With the technology development, our lives are more easily to communicate.

The second important parts that I want to portray in this blog is the ethical issues surround the changes of technology.

So, what is ‘ethics’ means? Ethics is a moral principle in different standpoint that govern a person’s behaviour or the conducting of an activity. The ethical thinking is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Some of the things that could be considered to ethical issues such as:

· Privacy be careful when sharing your personal information on social media because who will never know what is going to happen when someone know too many information about you.

· Copyright and hacking: in fact, how do you think when you spent heaps of money on something to make it valid and someone just take it for free. Angry, sad, disappointing? Those things won’t help to get things back so the best way is store it in somewhere that safe and protected by.

· Computer crime: with the development of technologies, it would be a best place for crime happened. You can get yourself in danger when participate in mysterious group or be friend with someone you haven’t met before. On top of that, some issues that happens with computer crime are cyberbullying which is you are a victim of thing that you do not want to hear and to know about. Another crime is sexual harassment, which happened quite a lots in today. And lastly, the most seen case that considered to computer crime is keyboard warrior where people use their language and typing their words in completely inappropriate ways.

There are many issues that considered to ethical issues but those above things are the most important ways that has happened. If you’re keen enough, I will update those issues soon but now that’s it from me. Have a lovely weekend and I’ll catch up with you soon. Bye
