July 19: Jim Henson’s first digital collectibles and NFTs are coming to Quidd
The world of The Dark Crystal is beautiful and mysterious. Sometimes frightening, but always magical. It is a world where no human walks. Nature has its own intelligence and the kingdoms of plant and animal have no boundaries. In this world trees walk, mountains move and rocks, water, and plants converse in a myriad of unknown ways.
The Dark Crystal is legendary in the canon of fantasy/sci films. As Jim Henson’s second feature as director, it was built on incredible lore and, of course, the art of Brian Froud. Froud, whose concept artwork formed the basis for the environments and characters of the film, is a master fantasy illustrator. His unique style provided the richness and mystery of the movie and its puppets.
Quidd kicks off the 40th anniversary celebration of The Dark Crystal with The Jim Henson Company’s first NFTs: the beloved film’s first appearance in digital collectibles, featuring Froud’s conceptual drawings and art that brought forth the film’s iconic style and served as the basis for its creatures and characters.
Collection Journey
Join the epic journey of The Dark Crystal, where we celebrate Brian Froud’s beautiful artwork that inspired your favorite characters of the film. Three sets of unique cards bring you through the conceptual discovery and evolution of the urRu, the Skeksis, and the Creatures and Objects of the movie.
Complete and rank in each set to unlock a corresponding set Shard. Collect and rank across all three shards and the channel to unlock Shards (Stone, Bronze, Silver, Gold) and The Dark Crystal of different rarities and extremely limited print counts. Only the top 20 will get a Gold Shard, for example, and there will only be 10 true Dark Crystal rankers.
The Chase
The Dark Crystal: A Journey Begins collection includes:
- 12 total sets (1 base set, 3 insert sets, 3 award items, 5 overall collection award items)
- 61 unique items in the collection
- No flash packs
- Any unsold inventory will be locked forever in our warehouse on Tuesday, July 26 at 1pm ET
The chase will last exactly 7 days, and follow this schedule:

Spot bonus
