Vision
I’ve been chasing a vision since I was 11 years old. I remember the first time I saw the internet. It was an exciting day. Nervous and full of anticipation, I sat in my first IT (information technology) class at school. We were there to learn Microsoft Excel, I guess the teachers figured that seemed educational enough. I can’t honestly remember how, but somehow the browser got fired up, perhaps I was just curious. What I do remember is the terrible stomach sinking disappointment. Why on earth couldn’t I make my own webpage? where was the new file option? the text tool? the image tool? What was going on here?!
2017 and things have improved tremendously. We have interactive applications, social media platforms are booming, and the technology scene is a wild fire of innovation. Creative tools however, are less than inspired. Producing a beautiful, provocative, bespoke web experience is still out of reach for so many people. Unless you have a designer and developer on hand you’re left with templated solutions and awkward editors.
I want the internet to be this amazing platform for creative people. I want the world to draw, paint, animate, design, write and make beautiful or terrible music over the internet.
The only thing that’s stopping us is the tools.
