Happiness is considered to be the true measure of social progress and the goal of public policy.

The World Happiness Report 2017 was published and highlighted one of the biggest surprises:

The US ranked a lowly 14th place (Norway topped the charts).

In 2007, the American superpower was at number 3 among the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries.

How the mighty has fallen.

So what causes a first world country with everything you could possibly need to have such unhappy people?

Sure you can blame the President, the bankers or The American Dream that you bought into that is not being realized.

People talk about the secret to happiness. Thousands of books have been published on the subject. But are they masking the true problem:

That happiness is not gained from external sources.
