for the beginner, the same can be achieved with a redis cluster and beanstalkd and the language of your choice. this approach is known as write behind cacheing. you hide the complexity of the write in a backend job. redis and beanstalkd have dead simple protocols, so it may be easier for you to prototype such a system before moving on to more advanced configurations.
