This is exactly my experience… except that I’m a white male working in tech in NYC.
Sam Matthews

I work in Silicon Valley, and tech is predominately Caucasian and Asian. The talk around diversity is generally is generally around Latinos, African Americans, and women. Based on the breakdown from your example, according to census:

Chinese = Asian
Indian = Asian
Russian = Caucasian
Korean = Asian
Filipino = Asian

I wont argue the differences culture when using the blanket term of “Asian” to cover a wide diversity of people; that’s whole different problem. But according to commonly used statistics, your workplace has the same problem. Unless New York has a better representation of Latinos and African Americans. If so, New York has something to teach Silicon Valley.
