To be interested not just interesting is an important aspect of life, of which we don’t take notice most of the times. It is very important to be interested in others, to care for others and to value others, not only for establishing and maintaining relationships but for personal growth also. Being interested is about greeting and appreciating others, listening to them carefully and making them feel attached. Through reading Dale Carnegie’s views on this aspect and experiencing it I learned that this enables us not to be self-centered as most of the time we always show interest in ourselves and focus on what we are, what our accomplishments are, we always want others to value us, to admire us for our greatness. These aspects make us self- centered, confined to ourselves and and resist the growth.

When we show interest in others, we get to know who they are, how do they take life, how they deal with hurdles. We learn from other’s experiences and their insights, we get to know how broad the life is, we take their problems as ours and try to diagnose them. Our vision of life gets to be broaden through taking interest in others. Through experiencing this aspect we can become more strong as being self-centered we only think about our problems and take them as huge and most of the time we despond but when we engage in other’s life we get to know that our life is much easier or we are not the only one who are facing problems which make us stand again.

“This makes us interesting ourselves when we take interest in others.”

Showing interest helps us building relationships, to have more friends than we have while being interested in ourselves because people take interest in us when we show interest as they know we care about them and value them. It is really interesting in itself to practice this aspect because we come to know about new ideas and become more creative and rich in ourselves. We get inner satisfaction and fulfillment through taking interest in others as we make others feel happy, being valued and special. Through this practice we get fresh ourselves as well.
