I don’t know if I agree with this piece. Innovation is no longer the role of “leader” and has trickled across the world to younger masses and everyone really. So just as Presidents have stopped spending their money on “space exploration” due to economic factors and accountability. Innovators are now in every classroom, boardroom and bathroom. Smartphones and the Internet have increased the venues to which innovation can be applied. But from infrastructure to consumer “games” there are remarkable technologies that are being invented and broadened everyday.
Visionaries still exist. Estonia is a country that is almost paperless, the moon has been already reached (so is Mars). Undermining innovation in green energy, grids, medicine, economy (Financial Technology), mobility, media. While we used to produce a slither of our development in Mass projects. We are now stretched across the sectors with innovation. That’s not an indicator that people are not innovating, it’s just different. Also, just because the US is not “producing” that’s not a metric from the world.
