I can’t speak of the more complex problems or race and police brutality in the US. It twists my gut that any innocent person would die because of misplaced prejudice but I don’t want you to give up on Pokemon go if you feel you can enjoy it.

With that in mind I have a suggestion. I love this game. Not because the mechanics are perfect (because they are far from it) but because it has already caused me to go out and meet like minded people.

If you can get to a town center or busy shopping street with lots of pokestops I can almost guarantee you will find lures being used and a gathering of players around them, just go up to them and ask to join them and make use of the lure. I have found these groups to be very welcoming and from all walks of life and backgrounds. Very quickly I think you will find yourself making connections. Once you make those links you can start creating a group to go out hunting with. If you are in a group it will hopefully significantly lessen any danger from authorities. Though I am in the UK and the issue of guns do not play into things I still think this could help you experience this game.
