What’s The Worst Thing To Buy Off A Wedding Registry?

I second the notion that the registry is usually created because older people want one. I did NOT want to create one for my wedding, but I had many older family members who really wanted one. Anyway, I always give either a thoughtful gift that’s not on the registry or cash. Everyone likes cash. Then they can determine what things are most important to them and buy stuff from their registry that they didn’t get.

And only give off-registry if you really know the people. For example, my friends and I were just out to eat, and the bride-to-be mentioned how much she looooved the olive oil container thing. Those cost about $5, wasn’t on the registry, and I’m giving it with cash. I can’t tell you how many off-registry gifts I returned because I’m not a clutter person.

Side note- my favorite wedding gift (and maybe favorite gift ever) was a painting of my dog. I love it, he looks perfect and it’s a great conversation piece. Needless to say, that was not on the registry.
