I Tried the “Little Miss” Trend on My Instagram

And actually learned a ton about myself and mental health.

You’ve seen the “Little Miss” trend rolling around instagram and had a good giggle. Maybe you’re as old as me and felt a flood of nostalgic dopamine surge through your body. Perhaps you even let your inner child have some fun and played around with making your own “Little Miss” memes and finally understand what Gen Z means when they say “hehe” instead of “haha” in text.

Roger Hargreave’s Little Miss and Mr. Men books were a favorite for my brother and me growing up. I saw myself in these characters, and in many ways, they gave me permission to accept those parts of self I’d once disliked (like little miss bossy or mr. messy — somehow these characters made me feel ok to know what I wanted or not be perfect.)

My instagram is all about embracing self, connecting vulnerably, and showing up messy.

I’ve put a lot of time and energy into building a social media platform and online space dedicated to being ruthlessly raw about my history with mental illness, therapy, divorce, failures, accomplishments, and more.

So when I decided to jump on this trend, I initially thought it might be a fun way to showcase some inner child play. (Inner child work is one of my fortes, you can find more tools for healing on my
