I disagree with this statement. Many people, if not most people, doubted the accusations for a LONG time. His victims were accused of being gold-diggers, liars, etc. I think it wasn’t until there were at least 20 victims -and sadly, probably only when White women stepped forward — did people start taking the accusations seriously. And you also have to take into account that Hollywood surely knew all about his misdeeds and kept them quiet for all this time. All this time being 50 years! There are a whole lot of people that were in on this secret and gave Dr. Huxtable a pass. No doubt there’s something to be said about men in power, but I think comparing this Bill to that Bill in this way is a bad example.
