Things I (honestly) don’t want to see in your portfolio

Hilarious and practical advice. Thank you!

Can I ask a naive Dribble question? I see a lot of single page web design mockups on Dribble that look…. homogeneous. Huge product shot with cropped-out background over enormous gradient and/or textured image, tiny text navigation elements on all four sides, usually some sort of carousel for other products, etc.

Are these designs done just for fun, or are they actual, implemented website designs?

I’m not trying to be an asshole or say I can do better, I’ve just noticed a lot of UI issues with a lot of the web designs on Dribble. It’s impossible to get a sense of the project from a single shot, but a lot of the designs I see are… impractical, I guess?

I’m wondering why so many of them look alike. Are people really just following the predominant design trends that closely?
