Democracy at it's Finest
People are not commodities to be managed bought and sold. Statement worth repeating more earnestly considered. Though certain schools of thought might argue its pros and cons. Yet a question remains. Have we modernized slavery? As with everything else civilization has overtly or covertly carried over from century to century. Is it possible that in today’s world there still thrives the beating heart and mentality behind setting values on humanity? Where does it stem from? Our culture seeks to be more inclusive. "Tolerant." Yet of what and whom? Individuals pumping rhetoric present us options. But are those choices representative of humanity as a whole? Do they add or detract from the inalienable rights of every human being born to have "life and that more abundantly?" Or is it but for segments of societies to enjoy? If only for a season. An abundant life isn’t confined to amassing wealth. Or being so loosely liberated by the right to choose our course for whatever. It is about safety security and stability. Drivers of every thriving civilization. Within whose borders such decisions can be considered. Made free of unhealthy - unsafe external influences.
We hope to be represented by individuals who don't just play at hearing us. Men and women from our very own communities who've listened. Choosing to take a portion of our human experience upon themselves. Make it their own. Empathy is a feeling that comes and goes quickly. Compassion is ever present in the actions which precede and follow those exercised in being - human. These are the kind of people as part of a democracy we want to send. Who we hope will go for us. Sit in the gates where legislation is not rule by chaos. Discord for days. Leaving citizenry in a constant state of instability. Sense of mistrust and uncertainty created by those who should epitomize the very opposite. They ought to be the best of us. Stable. Grounded. Willing to listen. Then act. Not make a speech or show of it. Action based on what will be the betterment of an entire society. Rooted in sound - just principles that do not need to be changed. Or exchanged for something new. They simply must be lived out. More sincere. Right. Life more abundantly.
People are not commodities to be managed bought or sold. Under any circumstances. Those who are in authority do well when they come from the people. Are part of the people. Genuinely care for their people. Democracy at its finest.
