Goodbye Winter

While the others dream of a paradise away from home, I feel at ease amongst the rhythms of a frosty Melbourne Winter. The numbing dusk settles as the nights of dancing to home grown music turned into an early morning hustle. As the sex we had in the darkness of your covers became the love we made through to tomorrow’s dawn. As the sun sets while we light a cigarette more golden than a mid Summer sunrise. And there wasn’t a rapture more exhilarating nor intense, than the one I had felt in those months as I replay the breathless warmth of our skins touching; the mild vibes as we drank our beers, washed down our pills, whistled our tunes and retold our travels until our piercing dusks turned into chilling dawns and afternoon scavenges underneath the leafless branches of the raw Australian cold became nothing more than a dim and distant memory.
