What’s a business that technology can’t overthrow?

So we know these days how Artificial intelligence is taking over jobs around us. It’s quite scary if you think about it and also really exciting at the same time. Few examples of Artificial Intelligence taking over jobs are :

• Driverless cars which Uber has launched in Pittsburg and many other car companies like Tesla Motors, Ford etc are working towards.
• Human assistants are replaced by Chat bots.
• Auto pilots in aviation industry.

So this made me think and went quite deep into it and rather than looking outside, I looked inside.

Our brain is divided into the left brain and right brain and the functions carried out by both of them is quite interesting. If you look at the infographic below you will clearly understand how different functions are carried out.

Now coming back to Artificial intelligence, if you notice, all functions carried out by the left brain can be programmed into an algorithm or in simple language, a computer can perform the functions much better and in a faster rate than a human brain. Any business that fall’s in line with the left brain functions can be run better by a computer generated code or easily be articulated into a better way, using computational power.

Now, if you look at the right brain functions you can understand it’s more to do with the individual you are. Every one of us have this creative, random, intuitive perspective which can help us in many situations. Such characteristics are difficult for an Artificial intelligence to learn ( Though there are powerful robots that make anything from music, art etc).

In technology, innovation happens at a really fast pace. Be it cameras, operating systems, tech products etc we fail to realize how dependent we are on individual technologies that are coming up. Imagine, We cannot play the favorite Pokemon Go if you don’t have an iOS 8 or what ever.

Be original, be yourself, it’s okay to fail, something an algorithm cannot afford to because then the software would shut down, but when we fail, we learn, it adds to our intuitive capability of understanding and coming up with better decisions in life.

So as long as you have a business that’s core is right brain oriented, I feel you are safe. No machine can copy randomness and no machine can see and play with the colors you see.
