You are deeply motivated to learn a second language but when you see grammar rules your motivation plummets immediately. Everything is so abstract and you don’t know what’s going on whatsoever. The outcome of your initial motivation is resentment and dissatisfaction to learn a new language.

But don’t worry. It’s not that bad. These strategies will help you to overcome your concern about grammar rules. Furthermore, your motivation to start learning your favorite language will be back right away.

1. Do not learn grammar rules

Grammar is a fundamental part of every single language. Every single sentence in a foreign language has its own structure. But there is no need to learn grammar by heart because when you do that, you would think in a conversation about the grammar structure rather than make meaningful ideas. Conversely, try to learn phrases and use them in context. If you want to express regret and you struggle with the grammar part of “should have”, use it in a sentence, for example, “I should have done it before”. Try to make interesting and fun sentences. The more creative you are, the easier it will be for you.

2. Don’t translate in your head
