A day in the life of my social media

I feel very out of place with my social media use, especially given that I am a communications major, and have run professional social accounts before. I check in on all my platforms regularly, I just don’t post too often.

I, like many people, check my phone before I am even out of bed. There I say happy birthday, check the news, the latest tweets, and that is pretty much it. I check in every once in a while during the day, but I only post something when it is really worth posting, like my latest blog. Regardless of the time of day, I am mostly just looking and commenting on what others are doing. I don’t like sharing too much with everyone on Twitter and Facebook, you know?

I think that most of my social media use occurs while I am on my phone. It is always in my pocket or by my bed. It makes it easy to check in between classes, while I am waiting in line at a store, even while I am eating. I use my computer regularly, but unless I am sharing a link, I am typically posting from my phone. I look at more links on my computer though.

Day of the week and real time events impact a bit of my use with social media. I rarely watch tv when it is on the tv, so I tend to avoid social platforms while the shows are on to avoid as many spoilers as possible. When there are big world events, I tend to check in on twitter a bit more so that I can stay in the loop.

I think I use Twitter more for news and updates on the world and television shows, and whatnot, while Facebook is more my sharing space. Facebook is where I share my pictures and check in on my family.

I am a big fan of following sports and news twitter accounts. That is how I learn about updates on rosters and world events. I don’t have any particular example, but those are the accounts I look at the most.
