Follow Your Fears

A story of living outside the comfort zone.

How many times have you avoided doing something you loved? Telling yourself ‘I can’t’, ‘that’s impossible’, ‘it’s too hard’, ‘it’s not practical’. Chances are that you’re not foreign to these words — I’ve used them many times myself. They are easy-out excuses that we use all too often, motivated by fear.

Fear of rejection. Fear of failure. Fear of the unknown. Fear of Living Unbound.

Live Unbound

If you haven’t heard about this company…well, you’re missing out. To me (and many Live Unbound believers), Live Unbound is a mentality and a way of life. It’s a movement to overcome whatever it is that’s stopping you from living life that you desire. Sound familiar?

Well, after following the company for two years, in mid-February I reached out to it’s founder, Yali Sharon. I wanted to be a part of spreading a message that I whole-heartedly believe in…and it didn’t take Yali long to respond. In our first of many coast-to-coast phone calls and emails, Yali and I discussed Live Unbound and why he started it. “I wanted to do my part in unlocking human potential and help people overcome self-imposed limitations through creating action-inspiring films, writings and apparel,” he reflected.

It wasn’t long after that conversation, I was immersed in my first major project with Live Unbound…the mini documentary Follow Your Fears.

People are often afraid of doing the things that are most important to them meaning that their fears exist in the same place as their dreams. Follow your fears has become a kind of mantra for [Live Unbound] because it expresses our belief that fears can serve as a guide. — Yali Sharon, Live Unbound Founder

Without Further Ado…

Live Unbound presents Follow Your Fears featuring Brad O’neal, first winner of Live Unbound’s Dream Enablers contest. The mini documentary follows his journey to fulfilling his childhood dream of a record-breaking motoBASE jump. I won’t ruin the story for you, but I will say that this athlete has some great potential. So, here it is…Follow Your Fears:

Amazing right?! After working with Brad’s story and with Live Unbound, I’m a huge supporter of his aspirations and the message he drives. Brad’s passion, talent, and modesty is so refreshingly inspiring to come across. Luckily, I had the chance of catching up with Brad post-jump…this is what he had to say:

Working with Live Unbound was an amazing experience! It was nice to work with an action sports company that is focused more on the story and the reasons behind that story than just an action sports reel. Accomplishing this goal was one of the craziest and most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. To dream about something for so long and have no idea how to turn it into a reality was the most difficult part. The next goal I have is to bring the motoBASE stunt and my other ideas into a live action sports/stunt show. — Brad O’neal

So, what are you afraid of?

If you’ve made it this far…you’re in front of a screen reading these words. So, do yourself a favor, answer the question…cause I know there’s something deep down inside you’ve been wanting to do. Something you’re holding out on. If it’s your dream, if you think about it everyday, if it makes you light up…Take action. It’s one thing to feel inspired, but to get up and run with it — that’s the hard part. So, I urge you to Follow that Fear…get outside your comfort zone.

Whatever you do in life, don’t let your fears paralyze you. Let them challenge you.

[Follow your Fears] is an important message because fear, like most negative emotions, can be used to our advantage. By embracing it instead of fighting it you can learn a lot about your true desires and life purpose. Working on this project was an incredible experience that connected me to inspiring people from all over the world. Of course, it was full of challenges and stress but that’s all part of the wonderful world of creating. — Yali Sharon, Director & Producer of ‘Follow Your Fears’
