Why do we love Bigg Boss Contestant Oviya so much

These days most of the Tamil TV audience are hooked to Star Vijay Channel every night. Its the effect of the show Bigg Boss and it’s key contestant — Actress Oviya Helen

I found in the last one month that most of the discussions on my WhatsApp groups and Facebook groups were about this woman. So let’s get directly to the point, why do people like her so much that she gets saved from eviction every time, having a group by name ‘Oviya army’ who have no other work than to make memes about her and has celebrities tweeting about her ever since she walked into that house. Let me tell you, not many people knew that there was an actress by her name until the show took off.

She took her time to break the ice with people in the bigg boss house. She took (Still?) way too much time and it’s been a month already. Even Kamal Hassan ( our weekend entertainer and the person who takes the contestant left and right every weekend) adviced her twice to try and get along with house mates. She tried but everytime she did, someone or the other let her down. She liked a guy on the show and openly proposed her love for him(not many women have the guts to do that considering that it’s a man thing to do). He let her down by talking and laughing about it to the house mates. He also told her that he was not interested and stopped talking to her altogether. Also used the word ‘mad’ to refer to her. She grew over it.

The women in the house stayed away from her and cornered her and blamed her for things she didn’t do.

The one time she stood up and helped a lady and was the lone person who stood by her, she got let down by her

All this we know but I think why WE like her is something more than just sympathy.

We see a piece of us in her. Everyday. There are women who are corned by their own (new family members) in laws and blamed for things they didn’t do. Those women have no other option than staying in the same home and adjusting to it. Neither can they complain nor can they openly cry for fear of being called weak.

There are people being bullied at work, college, etc.. these are the exact same people who are either too timid to backanswer or just don’t want to get into that mode and want to ignore and move on

There are people who have had their hearts broken by their loved ones and yet have to move on with their lives without crying about it too much

Then there’s this downright straightforward type people who will call a spade a spade. They are also downright honest. They wouldn’t fear talking the truth even if it means standing against the whole world.

Then there’s the set of people who have lost a parent to cancer and are probably dying inside, thinking of them every single day and how unfair it was for the unfortunate disease to take them away.

And after today’s episode, I want to add that there’s this majority of people who show on the outside that they’re strong. They show the world that they don’t need anyone. They don’t need friends, relationships. But when treated with love and affection can hold onto that person for life. They are this big bundle of emotions but on the outside, one can never say that all these feelings are boiling inside.

We all have atleast one of these characteristics. And we feel happy seeing someone like us on screen. And you know what, she needs to be appreciated for the kind of lady she is. For how sweet she is, for being such a beautifully straightforward person, for being a woman and saying someone that she loves him, for being truthful, for being kind, for (sometimes) breaking the rules and for just being herself and not changing herself for anyone or anything (prize money?).We all want to be that but can’t be due to many many situation s and circumstances we are in.

She can, so we will vote and encourage her for the woman she is.

We love you Oviya. This post is dedicated just for you !
