“Kindness is invincible, but only when it’s sincere, with no hypocrisy or faking. For what can even the most malicious person do if you keep showing kindness and, if given the chance, you gently point out where they went wrong — right as they are trying to harm you?” — MARCUS AURELIUS

Kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate [English Oxford Living Dictionaries].

Several studies have shown that people who practice kindness on a regular basis are happier and more inspired than those that don’t.

Psychology researchers have found that by performing an act of kindness, you are more likely to feel better than if you are the recipient of a kind act.

When was the last time you did something kind for someone?

When was the last time you did something kind for yourself?

For some of you, maybe you don’t remember, but for those that do, how do you remember feeling?

There are many ways to be kind and many opportunities to practice kindness.

You can be proactive and you notice when people could need a helping hand.

You can celebrate someone else’s successes and encourage them.

You can tell the truth in a gentle way.

You can give constructive feedback in a loving and caring way and help others grow.

More importantly, should you be kind to yourself and take good care?

What if someone treated you meanly? You still can control yourself, don’t fight back, and respond with kindness.

Try to do good to those who hate you, and you’ll see the effect, not only on them but on you as well.

After serving 27 years in prison, what was Mandela’s response to his enemies? Kindness.

“I believe that in the end it is kindness and generous accommodation that are the catalysts for real change” — Nelson Mandela

Kindness is not an act of Naivety or weakness. True weakness is most often masked by rudeness, meanness, and cruelty.

It’s a great interpersonal skill that requires courage and strength.

Showing kindness is not an act of submission. It’s an action of self-control and patience.

Kindness doesn’t mean that you don’t express your anger. It means that you choose how to express the anger. You can explain why you’re hurt and angry, without expressing feelings that can hurt you and others.”

It’s no surprise that in his studies of thousands of couples, the American psychological researcher John Gottman found that Kindness is the most important predictor of satisfaction and stability in a marriage.

Most heroic leaders display a sense of kindness for others.

No wonder it’s a little wonder that on the wall of her children’s home in Calcutta, Mother Teresa put The Paradoxical Commandments poem of Kent M. Keith:

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.

Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.

Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.

Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.

Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.

Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.

Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.

Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.

Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.

Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.

Give the world the best you have anyway.

Let’s make kindness part of your daily actions.

Be the reason someone smiles.

Be the reason someone feels loved and believes in the goodness in people.
