Hero of Mandalore
I talk Sabine with my seven year-old daughter, Tiny Twi’lek

**Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for the Star Wars Rebels episodes “Trials of the Darksaber” and “Legacy of Mandalore”**
My seven year old Tiny Twi’lek was captivated when Rebels got all Sabine-centric. Seeing Sabine wield a saber was so clearly exhilarating for her (and me!) and I was interested to hear her thoughts on these pivotal episodes. This is what happened when we sat down to talk about it:
RR: What do you like about Sabine?
TT: She’s really good at fighting and she has two blasters. And she has exploding art.
RR: What is your favourite of her weapons?
TT: Her exploding art.
RR: What are your favourite Sabine moments?
TT: In “Ghosts of Geonosis”, when Ezra says “I want one of those” and she says “I know.” (Referring to the jetpack.)
RR: In “Trials of the Darksaber” what did you think of how Ezra works with Sabine?
TT: Ezra was teaching Sabine. A younger person was teaching her and she was quite…I think she believed in him.
RR: Do you think Sabine spoke to the Bendu — what do you think he said to her?
TT: Yes. He said go to Mandalore and get your parents.
RR: What was your favourite bit in Sabine’s Jedi training?
TT: The bit when her and Kanan are fighting. I felt a bit freaked out. I felt worried about Sabine killing Kanan.
RR: Do you think Sabine has the Force?
TT: She does but she just can’t find it in herself.
RR: What was Hera’s role in the episode?
TT: She didn’t have a role.
RR: What was Hera saying to Kanan?
TT: Let her use the Darksaber, that’s probably what’s hurting her feelings. He thinks she’s not ready to use it and Hera says she is ready cause she’s a really good fighter.
RR: What do we learn about Sabine in that episode?
TT: She doesn’t like people thinking that she can’t do things.

RR: What did you think of the snowy world in “Legacy of Mandalore”?
TT: Cold and crystallish.
RR: What do you think of Sabine’s mum Ursa Wren?
TT: (Surprised) Jyn Erso?!
RR: No, Ursa Wren.
TT: Really cool. Cause she realised she was doing the wrong thing. When she hadn’t realised she was doing the wrong thing she was strict, not kind and mean to her daughter.
RR: And her brother?
TT: He chose family instead of the bad guy Gar Saxon.

RR: Sabine was fighting with Ezra’s lightsaber.
TT: That was so awesome!
RR: Do you think you would like to fight with a lightsaber?
TT: That would be quite dangerous, no.
RR: Would you like to be Sabine, a Mandalorian warrior?
TT: No. It would be quite scary, I would probably get killed or something. I’m not very good at karate kicks.
RR: What are your favourite things about watching Star Wars Rebels?
TT: It’s awesome cause they fight with guns. I like Sabine and Hera, they are the only girls and they are really cool.
RR: How did you feel about Sabine staying with her family at the end?
TT: Happy and sad. Happy cause she hadn’t seen her family for a long time and now they love her again. Sad because she was leaving her other family and she didn’t get to say goodbye to who had nearly been her mum for most of her life growing up (Hera).
RR: Do you think we’ll get some more stories with Sabine on Rebels?
TT: Yes. She will be karate kicking people in the nuts.
Ryloth out.
