Avoiding the pitfall of piety
Jonas Ellison

There is a difference between religion and relationship. Religion pulls down while relationship lifts up. Religion can be hypocritical while relationship can be humble. This difference is, for me, the draw of the cross. The relationship that it represents. It lifts me up when I cannot stand. It tempers my arrogance when I feel attacked. It is the divine coming down from the mountain to fellowship with me, rather than having to exhaust myself with a steep climb to the divine.
