Money Talks

I love the saying, “ Money isn’t everything, but when you don’t have any, it is everything.” It seems that we are constantly trying to make more money, get more money fast, or as this video shows, magically find money.

That is why when the Powerball climbs to a huge amount, everyone starts to buy tickets as fast as they can. Our world is consumed by money. That is where we find our value. If you make more money, you are automatically held to have higher importance. People are fascinated by the 1% of the world; the uber-rich. I, myself, love to watch those shows that give you a tour of super expensive homes. I want to see how the other half lives. However, no matter how much money we have, we will never find our peace and rest in it. We will constantly look for more. I love how Paul David Tripp puts it in Sex & Money, “No amount of money, education, or budget construction has the power to free me from the ravenous greed of my sinful heart. For that, I can only look to one thing: the powerful grace of my Redeemer (Tripp 156).” That is the only thing that will fulfill us. So the next time that we find ourselves consumed by the love of money, let us remember Proverbs 16:8, “ Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.”
