In the book of Mark, Jesus said to His disciples: “Let’s go over to the other side” Mark 4:35. So they took the boat and…
“A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.” Mark 4:37
Guess what? Jesus was in that boat. Could the One with all power make it quiet? For sure! Why did He allow the disciples to have such experience? I don’t know His whole purpose with that, but one thing I know: He was building their faith.
The last verse of this chapter shows us that what happened brought revelation concerning the magnitude of the power of Jesus:
The disciples “were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” Mark 4:41
I realized that it is what happens with us sometimes. We obey Jesus’ command to go to the other side and, in the middle of our journey, there is a storm. Then, in the same way, we won`t know the whole purpose of God with that, but one thing we should know: Jesus is in that boat! It is enough!
If you are living a hard time in your journey following Jesus, today He is reminding you: “I’m here! I’m right here in that boat with you.” He will command to the storm “Quiet! Be still”. He is powerful and will make us go to the other side in safety.
