A Paulista’s guide to Europe: Introduction
Well, so it begins…
This series of publications is an old idea of mine, to reflect and also “put to stone” all I have learned while traveling, in a chance that not only I but others can benefit from it when traveling or studying themselves.
The first order of business should be introducing myself, and what I shall write on, more specifically. My name is Rafael, I am from Brazil, state of São Paulo(a Paulista!), and during the past year, I have lived and traveled in Europe thanks to an exchange between my universities. I lived the first half in the United Kingdom, travelling only once outside of it, to Norway, but I did see a lot of cities and villages in England and Wales. During the later half of my experience abroad, I went to live in Slovenia, a part of the former Yugoslavia. Being an inexpensive country and in the center of the continent, I used this opportunity to explore the countries I had always dreamed of visiting: France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, and Austria. Of all of these, I traveled extensively in Italy, since I wanted to know more about my family’s home country.

The second order of business is to explain a bit better how and what I will be writing. You see, it won’t be traveling journal, nor a touristic guide, nor a historical essay, but rather a combination of the 3: I will dedicate a post for each city (or region if needed) I have traveled, telling its history, culture, landmarks and interesting experiences, of course, all based on my proper experience in these places.
To all and anyone who read these tales, feel free to contact if you have questions regarding the city’s background or just tourist tips, I’ll gladly help as much as I can!
And so let’s get started!
