Thanks for this interesting article. I had read this before I bought the Fuji XT20. I kind of felt that I might live with this problem. However when I got the camera & tried it at home, I couldn’t believe how Major this issue really is. Especially when processing the RAW file in Lightroom. It was so bad that I was literally staring at the RAW file in disbelief. After multiple attempts to fix the issue, I finally nailed it down to the Default setting of Color Noise Reduction = 25 in Lightroom. If you pull this slider down to 5 or 7, the smearing goes away. I can’t put any samples in this post, but here is a link to the thread I started on this. It also has links to the RAW files I used for testing (Same scene with Sony A6000 and Fuji XT20):
