A CT (Computerized Tomography) or CAT (Computerized Axial Tomography) scan is a computerized x-ray imaging procedure used widely to get detailed body images. This scan allows for more insightful analyses when compared to traditional X-Rays. This CT Scan is commonly used in emergencies to detect internal injuries caused during accidents. Aruna Diagnostics is equipped with 16 Slice CT Scanner and offers top-quality CT Scan in Hyderabad.

About CT Scan?

As discussed earlier, a CT scan is an imaging technique that uses multiple X-ray images translated by a computer and converted to form a three-dimensional image. It takes pictures that show very thin “slices” of your bones, muscles, organs, and blood vessels and allow healthcare providers to look at your body in great detail.

CT Scan is a painless and non-invasive procedure that is used to visualize almost all parts of the body. The patients do not experience any pain during the CT Scan process. In few cases, a contrast dye is given to the patient before going to the process because it can help show specific structures more clearly.

How does a CT Scan work?

A CT Scanner has a circular opening of a donut-shaped structure called a gantry. During the CT Scan process, the patient needs to lie on a table that slowly moves inside the gantry while the x-ray tube rotates around the patient, shooting narrow beams of x-rays through the body. The machine’s computer further processes these signals to generate cross-sectional images of the body.

Though a CT scanner looks like an MRI, both have a lot of differences. A CT scanner is open-ended, makes less noise, and most importantly, this process takes less time when compared to an MRI.

During the CT Scan process, patients are asked to remove metal objects they are wearing during the scan, like belts, jewelry, dentures, and eyeglasses, as they might interfere with image results. Most importantly, Women should inform their doctor if they are pregnant; this is mainly due to radiation risk during the process. To avoid unnecessary radiation exposure, your doctor may recommend a different type of imaging technique like an Ultrasound or an MRI.
