Companies hesitate to bet on intagibles like this, but if you have historical data (not really accessible for most startups, but you could always compare to industry averages) of churn, productivity, worker health/satisfaction and other key factors that have a direct impact on your bottom line, you could actually do tests and measure fairly tangible ROI… with multiple teams and a timeline that doesn’t befit startups.
Making gut based decisions out of goodness and dedication to your employees is probably one of the decided advantages you have over slower organizations.
