Scientific and technological progress is obviously not a problem in and of itself, but the ways in which those advances are used by the few with the means to do so (historically, factory owners in the industrial revolution vs factory workers).
AI is not just coming after unskilled labor either, it will streamline processes involved in programming and medicine as well… maybe not outright pushing doctors and programmers out of jobs.
In theory, if you have a robot workforce powered by solar energy, and you own the land your factory is based on, you really won’t be relying on human customers to keep doing what you want to do… so if we do get to that point, it will probably become an extreme case of haves and have nots… way worse than what we’ve ever seen up until this point… unless there is indeed some effective legislation passed/worldwide action taken that does manage to maintain the status quo between consumer and producer.
