Express Entry system invitation round 302 was held on July 8, 2024. It was a targeted draw under Category-Based selection for those with French-language proficiency. A total of 3,200 invitations were issued. The minimum required cut-off was CRS 420.
Those invited can submit their Canadian permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The first draw of the month, on July 2, 2024, was exclusively for those nominated under the Provincial Nominee Program. The other three were targeted draws -
- Trade occupations — July 4, 2024
- Healthcare occupations — July 5, 2024
- French language proficiency — July 8, 2024
What is Express Entry category-based selection?
Only those eligible for a specific category are invited in the category-based rounds of Express Entry invitations. The categories are selected based on the specific economic goals of the Canadian government. Candidates are invited under criteria like -
- Education
- Work experience in a specific occupation
- Ability in an official language of Canada
The chosen categories are announced in advance by IRCC.
What are the Express Entry categories for 2024?
There are currently six categories selected for targeted category-based EE draws. These are -

What is the Express Entry category-based process?
There are eight steps in being selected under the Express Entry category-based selection.

Step 1 Express Interest
Create your Express Entry profile
Step 2 Enter EE pool
Your profile will be placed in the pool if you are eligible for Express Entry of candidates
Step 3 Check CRS
You will be given a score based on the 1,200-point Comprehensive Ranking System. You can check your CRS score in your IRCC account.
Step 4 Selection
IRCC will identify Express Entry candidates who are eligible for a particular category.
Step 5 Ranking
Those eligible for that category will be ranked on their CRS score.
Step 6 Invitation
Category-based rounds have invitations issued to candidates under a given category.
Step 7 Apply for PR
After you get an ITA from IRCC, you are given 60 days to submit your Canada PR application.
Step 8 Decision
This is where IRCC decides on your PR application. The final decision is based on -

● Category eligibility, and
● Whether you are admissible to Canada.
