I am only disagreeing with your point that Hollywood doesn’t have a problem- I agree with you on the examples. On the bu picture though Hollywood reflects society and society has a problem. My point about Chaplin and peter sellers, who were both great is that they were great because they are flawed. Even Weinstein is an easy target, a sacrificial lamb for societal identity-crisis in this current political situation. But Chaplin like Peter Sellers were both living works of art in that their work and life became mirrors — they’re flaws made them beautiful. In Weinstein we see a mirror without a reflection. Only art but no inner soul. So the demons that Chaplin was able to expose through his works weinstein was not able to do. Art is escape. Chaplin was amazing and sellers crazy, but crazy in a beautiful sense. The old problem is now a new problem but in Harvey’s case he had no escape. So Harvey Weinstein is human all to human. I am not defending him I am just saying he is a reflection of society. Artists transcend society. Unlike Chaplin who was evil Harvey was good so he became two faced. Anyone who pretends to be sane is crazy. Peter Sellers, Chaplin and mike Myers alter ego are all larger than life to show that this is who we are. They expose morality as a fraud, through farce. Those who hold onto morality become two faced. Harvey Weinstein became Harvey dent.
