3 Reasons Why we are in the age of Multiple professions?
We no longer live in an age where people depend on a single profession or stream of income. No one spends a decade or two in the same company or profession.
The rise of these multiple lifestyles has arisen basically out of 3 things:
- The need to diversify
- Following pursuits.
- The ease and scale of distribution on the internet.
The Millennials and Gen-Z have learned from the previous generations that a single stream of income makes you prone to the shocks of the economy. Therefore, arising the need for other streams of income.

Thus in this digital age, people are pursuing Freelancing, Content Creation, etc. along with their Education, Job, or Profession.
With distribution becoming easy, a person who wouldn’t have been able to fulfill his or her passion can easily do so on the internet.
Be it Singing, Writing, Filmmaking, and all kinds of arts and sciences.
On Websites like Fiverr, Upwork, etc. people are providing services from Personal Coaching to Video making to Book editing.
If you’ve got a product, there exists an audience.
Below are examples of some online channels, that no one would have thought of making money if they didn’t exist.
Ali Abdaal — 2.96Mn Subscribers. An ex-doctor who makes videos and content online on strategies and tools for making our lives happier and healthier.

The Success of these channels has made people make a shift from conventional professions to this new age of highly scalable professions, raking in millions of dollars that they wouldn’t have been able to(or would have taken them years) by staying or doing in the conventional professions.

The reason behind their success is their passion and drive to do things that they are doing, making them liked and loved by millions of people worldwide while making money on the side.
So they are following their pursuits by leveraging the ease of distribution on the internet, and they can always fall back to conventional professions in case things fall apart, making them safe and immune to the shocks.
