How is Steam Treatment for Bed Bugs Performed?

Steam is known to be one of the most effective methods for treatment of bedbugs. If it used in the right way, it could help evacuate all the bed bugs from all corners of the room. A good steamer and the right temperature is required for the same.

The best quality steamer

When you perform a steam treatment for bed bugs, the first thing that you need to considers the quality of the steamer. The best kind of steamers is the commercial steamers which can be controlled with the help of a steam volume control. A steamer is effective in evacuating bed bugs as they deliver high temperature to all corners of the room as well as the hiding places of these bugs. Steam can also be very effective when bedbugs are lying on the surface of any items. Steam can be used on fabrics, cracks and crevices and other materials as well. It is important that the temperature should be around 160–180°F to kill bed bugs effectively. It is important to use a steamer after properly reading the manual for directions of use. The precaution should be exercised with caution as well.

Tips to use the steamer

If a steamer is used correctly with the accurate temperature, it can get rid of bedbugs easily.

· Attach a triangular nozzle to the steamer which can be used for most places including the deep and dark corners. Floor nozzles will also work but needs to be handled with care

· The surface of the material to be steamed must reach a temperature of around 160–180°F below which the bedbugs may escape. Try and control the temperature as the higher temperature may damage the fabric surface as well as other materials. Control the temperature with the help of the wand

· Also, ensure that the fabric is damp but not too wet. The steamer can be used on all surfaces where you may feel that bedbugs are present.

· After applying steam, you can use the fan to dry up the area and the materials as well

· The steamer should be cooled, and the pressure should be relieved before packaging back.

Precautions while using a steamer

Though a steam treatment for bedbugs may be very effective, steam can also be dangerous if not applied with care. You need to exercise precautions before using a steamer.

· Always read the instruction manualy before using the steamer

· Be careful while refilling the machine, as the steamer is always under pressure

· Steam can be really hot as high as 212–230°F, and this is good enough to burn you. Thus always keep children away from steamers

· Also, test your steamer on other objects before applying on soft and delicate materials.

· Avoid using pinpoint nozzles. Use a nozzle that will distribute the steam evenly to all places under low pressure so that the bed bugs are gone easily.
