Why 99% of people fail to achieve their goals? (Scientifically Proved)

If you’re anything like me, you set goals more often than not.
We make promises of life-changing transformations to ourselves and pledge to be more disciplined this time.
Majority of us treat our goals as events and keep slogging hard until it is achieved.
We often overlook and undervalue the many favorable outcomes that occur in the process and easily get discouraged by a few unfavorable outcomes that are bound to crop up because we are all too focused on the event itself.
In the process, we end up asking too much of ourselves and declare the whole process of setting and achieving goals reserved for special ones.
Every small routines that we go through in our daily lives is the result of many small choices made unconsciously or consciously by us over a long course of time.
And yet how easily we neglect this when we want to achieve a life-altering goal.
We go straight from not reading a book to wanting to read 1 book per week.
We go straight from being an employee to wanting to build a multi-million dollar business.
We go straight from living an unhealthy life to wanting to enter a zen like state.
Thankfully, there’s a scientifically proven way to attain your goals and make a change which came to my light recently.
I came to know about this process from the book The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg.
Instead of relying on your willpower which is not on your will-call by the way to perform a task, divide your goals into many smaller routines that takes zero to little effort to perform throughout the day.
Charles describes it as cue-routine-reward method of creating new routines and habits.

For Example: A cue is a WhatsApp message notification , a routine is the exchange of messages that transpired and a reward is the actual communication that took place.
And now for the most important question :
How can you use Cue-Routine-Reward method to achieve your goals?
Start by splitting your goals into specific actionable items.
Vaguely saying, “I want to be an author someday” will not move a needle anyday.
Instead, pin point the exact steps you need to take to accomplish your goals today.
- Write
- Platform
- Audience
In my case in order to be a successful author, I need to write everyday, have a platform and build an audience.
Next, create a system and incorporate each step into it using cue-routine-reward approach.
For Example:
- I will write 500 words everyday after having dinner.
- I will contact 1 influencer in my niche for guest post opportunities every Wednesday after gym.
- I will check my Email Marketing Software to see which landing pages are bringing in more members after breakfast everyday.
To simplify, in the (1) case after having dinner is my cue, writing 500 words is the routine I perform and a feeling of making constant progress towards my goal which I crave is the reward I get.
But before you design any step and for the whole system to work in the first place, make each step in your system so effortless that you hardly break any sweat performing it.
How can you do that?
Simple. Make an offer to yourself that you can’t refuse.

In the beginning it is easy to get caught up in our wish to make a huge difference in our lives. But don’t you think trying to change a habit in a week that has taken many years to develop is silly and unfair.
That’s why improving just 1% everyday is more important than trying to make massive changes in our lives all at once.
If you want to become a voracious reader, Start by reading just a page first.
If you want to become a famous author, Start by writing just 100 words today.
A journey of a 1000 miles begins with a single step.
