The IT Industry is booming in India and hiring is increasing for a varied number of roles. With new trends like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and automation picking up, there has been an increase in demand for more Programming jobs in our country. But there hasn’t been enough supply of quality talent to satisfy the demand.

All companies no matter which industry they are in, use technology to help their business grow. Technology and more importantly data has become a key driver for effective decision making in any company. Infact, more than 40% of the programming jobs that is required, are from outside the core-tech companies.

In Colleges, It is becoming a fact that placements for non IT/CS branches have been low, with students struggling to find a decent paying job. But, companies are now ready to hire students from non-IT backgrounds for IT roles, provided they have the right skills and knowledge.

Most product companies (non-IT companies as well) nowadays have programming as an assessment round in their placement process. This shows the importance and the requirement of programming skills in the world out there.

With that said, One should strongly consider a career in the IT industry, because,

  • High Demand of IT Jobs
  • High Average Salary than other Industries
  • Global Opportunities
  • Strong Industry Growth and Job Security

How can one learn the required skills ?

The best way to learn programming skills is to get your hands dirty and create something on your own. There’s so much of pride and self-esteem that you develop when you create something valuable for someone. There is a lot of online content that is available. It’s as simple as just searching for a specific topic and you would find huge amounts of resources for it.

But, if you feel you would need a structure to you learning and you would need someone to push or encourage you, enrolling for online courses would be your best option. A lot of programming courses are available on Coursera, Udemy and other similar sites.

But, in specific, one particular role that caught my attention was the role of ‘Full Stack Developer’. According to researches by Indeed UK and LinkedIn, The ‘Full Stack Developer’ role has become the fastest growing tech roles ever.

Why you should consider a career in IT as a ‘Full Stack Developer’ :

  • Demand — It is more profitable for a company to hire 1 Full stack Developer instead of 2–3 developers each for specific stacks
  • Salary — Full Stack developer is the fastest growing roles of which offer 100,000$+ salaries.
  • Skills and Opportunities — You would gain expertise in a range of skills which you make you very valuable and would give a lot of opportunities elsewhere once you grow.

I took a JAVA full stack course offered by FACE Prep, and it really helped me to kickstart my career in the IT. By the end of my learning course, I had a few amazing projects, a kick-ass Git Profile and a High Paying Job Offer.

So, if you’re looking for job opportunities right now, the IT Industry is picking up and it’s never too late to enter it. I did and didn’t regret it.

What do you all feel about this ? Do you think IT is a good place to be in the future ? Let me know :)
