Fedora once again back in life!
It times to give it back to my favorite linux distro.
On the first day of college, my programming professor introduced me to Fedora and since then I would have spent more than a year time with this linux distro. I have learned computer science on it and had always found it getting better with every new releases (social account integration in fedora 20 is awesome). Though last year I switched to mac because of IOS development but still I kept its mini version Pidora running on my Raspberry Pi and Now again I am switching back to it.

During the last days of my internship at The Walt Disney Company, I was thinking of working on a application to ease off developers work load but instead of building complete project I thought it would be great if I can find some open source project and a mentor to guide me. In past I have experienced that new projects get stalled due to lack of proper guidance and so I started my hunt for a suitable project to devote summer.
The timing was perfect and I got email from google about the google summer of code 2015 program. Initially I was skeptic about applying to it as I thought I should work on my research project which is about “Immersive interaction with your past” but later on some how I controlled the baffling brain and decided to focus on my initial projects i.e. about making dev tools and found `Fresque` from fedora foundation. Fresque stands for Fedora Review Server.
Now let me tell you a bit about the fresque project. This project is about removing intricacies in package review process for submitting new RPM packages. It is a python web application built on the top of flask framework. Currently for any package to enter the fedora repository has to go through the review process which is somewhat mechanical and manual and in process contributors receives valuable feedbacks but once the package gets imported; there is no way to retain the information.
I applied for the project and got accepted. Here, I would like to thank you my mentor Aurélien Bompard for helping me out to submit my first pull request and complete the proposal. I would also like to thank Pierre-Yves Chibon and Ralp Bean for reviewing my proposal. I am looking forward to having a great time working with fedora-infra team. Moving ahead, My task is to develop the application which will expose dedicated RPM reviews using inline comments along with some level of automation. This will bring up lot of new possibilities to package manages and will allow them to connect to the packaging reality.
Three days from now coding period will start. I have gone through the pygit2 library which will be used for implementing the git backend server. Also due to a month break, I needed to revisit the code and I completed that today and I am currently working on my first patch.
It feels to good when you contribute to idea/product which you like and through GSOC program I will give my best to fresque project and will continue contributing to fedora projects in future also.
I am looking forawrd to having a great summer!
