Satoru Gojo, clan head of a main family in Jujutsu Kaisen written by Gege Akutami, one who was bestowed with godhood upon his birth, the user of Limitless Technique passed down in the Gojo Family, and the beholder of the Six Eyes, which gives him enhanced visual prowess.

Despite Gojo’s godhood, he was also bestowed with a tragic burden that might even be hard for him to bear. According to Gege Akutami Gojo is the pinnacle of strength in the Jujutsu Kaisen world which makes him a very hard character to write. But we will be discussing the tragic burden of Satoru Gojo today!

Just like Gojo’s cursed technique Limitless, his potential, ability, and unpredictability are also limitless. By the time I am writing this Jujutsu Kaizen's chapter number 231 has been released, by far what I have noticed is that no matter what broken ability is used by Sukuna, all of his 1000 years worth of time experience everything was answered by Gojo, and was returned tenfold be it the Maelovant Shrine, Ten Shadows, nothing could stop him.

This explains the gifts Gojo was born with, their significance and magnitude in the Jujutsu Kaisen's world. This brings a lot of responsibility to him. You might think how is it a burden for Gojo since throughout the chapters we have seen him bearing the responsibility with utmost dedication and commitment. I am not talking about the responsibility which is borne for the outside world, what I want to discuss is the internal monologue that goes on inside a sorcerer while performing their duties.

Geto and Yuki Tsukumo

A significant reason behind Geto, Gojo’s best friend becoming a vigilante was he couldn't bear the responsibility towards himself, which is dictated by his internal monologue.

Now how does it tie to Gojo’s burden? Since throughout manga we have seen him keeping the cliche positive optimistic MC attitude towards all the adversities thrown at him. In Jjk a lot of character development is done through tragic events but a lot of them happen when a character meets another character which are usually silent characters.

However, in Gojo’s case, the one he met was not a silent character but is one of the major antagonists of Jjk manga, It was the King of Curses Sukuna, haled to be the strongest curse in Jjk. In the manga, the loneliness from being the strongest is highlighted often during the latest chapters.

The punishment for Gojo being the Honored One and all the gifts he possesses is that he will always be the Honored One. He cannot be anything else(referring to Geto’s comment saying “Are you the strongest because you are Satoru Gojo? Or are you Satoru Gojo because you are the strongest?”) thus losing his freedom to exercise his will, since an individual of such caliber exercising their will, can cause adverse effects on the humanity. On the other hand, Sukuna is the dishonored one, he can be anyone who has the privilege of not caring about the consequences of his actions thus being an Übermensch.

Imagine him Happy!

The idea of individuals being able to exercise the will of their internal monologue which goes on throughout life is what makes an individual free from any burden in this existence. Most individuals fight to earn these abilities throughout their life but only a few succeed. Some who succeed either earn it and become evil for the rest of humanity and some who are born with it like Gojo who have those abilities by birth, enter another cage that stops them from using this privilege and thus are never truly free.
