Nuts 25

This is what happens when a former premier tech news channel ignores good design.

Net 25's logos since launching in 2000.

Two years ago, I silently ranted about their hideous logo redesign. Now, with another redesign, I don’t know what to say.

Why do I care? Well, because it was through Net 25 in 2000 that I began to appreciate and love learning more about the internet and technology in general. They took tech news seriously.

Their logo, however, have obviously lagged behind over the years. This current design, on one hand, feels like a step up from 2011’s orange eyesore but on the other hand, it’s a step back from, say, 2008 because it looks even busier than any of their previous logos. I mean, why put the eagle symbol (used by parent company Eagle Broadcasting Corporation) behind NET25? The placement not only makes the letters difficult to read especially in small scales, it also doesn’t help emphasize its shape to symbolize an eagle. DOTC’s logo designer would be so proud.

In a nutshell, this updated logo is no different from a traditional arranged marriage: unacceptable, contrived and awkward.
