I really love the font medium has designed which kind of outshines good old Georgia fonts. Also, this great editor which is a beautiful and uncluttered interface for writing anything on the internet. Medium.com has built a great product. It was surprise to learn that they are also allowing people to link their domain names to their blogs and publications. Then there is this new blast to create a restriction.

New users will be forced to use a medium.com/their-name and that isn’t going to go well for most serious bloggers and publications. You shed a good territory when the only thing you had required was an M next to a blog. Now, you want it back and this is a good news for open-source blogging platforms like Lesspod which are going to look nicer and load faster than old PHP based platforms.

Medium.com = A golden cage?

The medium always seemed inspiring and beautiful. At the same time, it was tough to trust all it had to give and I created a medium styled Wordpress theme which was on demand as demonstrated by 40+ people emailing to get it.

Cleanesto: Medium styled Wordpress them was on 1st page of hacker news.

Medium is and will always remain a golden cage and people will seek freedom to move out on their own. At Lesspod, we just aim to make it effortless.

Lesspod = Serverless Medium Meets Wordpress

We’re building Lesspod to be an open-source, serverless and beautiful blogging platform. We’ve got open-source right with GPL-v3 and got serverless right starting with Firebase (AWS lambada and azure support will be there). We still need to working on getting a great font designed and having a cleaner and beautiful editing interface done.

We’re just getting started: https://lesspod.org
