It’s 7 in the morning and Chandrika has kept a pan full of milk on the gas for boiling. Meanwhile, she goes to wake her kids up for school. She comes back in the kitchen to find milk all over the floor. This was the not the first time that she had to clean that mess up

Chandrika Mittal

Meet Chandrika, the 52 years old Economics lecturer from Punjab who has come up with a solution to avoid the mess created by boiled over milk. She was quite surprised to know that there was no practical solution for boiling milk without constantly monitoring it. She even discussed this with her fellow colleagues and friends and found that most of them were facing this problem. So she decided to take up the task and started working on it along with her 9 to 5 job.

Smart Pan

In about 6 months, with constant guidance from experts, she was able to design a pan which she now likes to call the Smart Pan. The Smart pan works in such a way that it allows only the steam to pass, keeping the milk well intact.

Working on this pan took away all my weekends for 6 months. But I’m glad that it was worth it.

This pan is getting a lot of appreciation as it has solved a basic household problem in a practical way. The pan is currently listed on a popular crowdfunding website.
