i was drawn by the title of your post because it resonates with how i feel lately around some fresh design talent. Many, when critiquing a ‘designed’experience, often marvel at the cool factor of the interface e.g. fancy animations infused in the interface in the name of ‘microinteraction’. Seldom is the critique about how well the experience is able to solve the core problem we set out to solve. This rather myopic view during design critiques is worrisome. Sometimes i wonder if in the pursuit of making fancy UIs we are slowly missing the essence of what the practice of user experience set out to accomplish…
