Now I walk into sunset
And now I walk into sunset,
releasing your hand, my dear
but not before I reminisce,
half-life of a year.
Amidst joyous shrieks
I was born a midnight’s child,
opened my eyes I did
to your celebrations wild.
I vowed to be your friend
I gave you the best of me,
somedays it worked
somedays it was not to be.
In spring I put a smile on you,
I made your flowers bloom,
I was there to comfort you in fall
as you plowed through your gloom,
But, first Janus, then Febuarious, and
then some more,
time I put on my clock,
over seasons four.
Time may be immortal, but
I accept my time has come,
on sands of your mind, I hope
I’ve left footprints some.
Goodbye my friend
I hope I’ve left no debt,
and with no rancor in my heart
Now I walk into sunset.
