1. Authority is a river of Lawa

Authority is a river of red hot lawa… you can pick up as much as you want…. beware of burnt fingers though… A colleague went above his mandate in an Industrial Relations situation. He came n reported that the problem had been solved but he had to accept such n such which was not mandated. I gave him the softest knock on the knuckles I ever gave any one…I told him I would have been disappointed if he had come without solving the problem, but remained within the mandate and that the Managers’ job is to solve problems.

Caveat: Beware of the Limits of authority on financials…unless you want internal audit on your tail all the time.
